“What international investors look for in an start up?”

Director David Carratt attended a meeting for Danish entrepreneurs organised jointly by Erhvervshus, IT-Branchen, and EKF(Denmark’s Export Credit Agency) to discuss how to finance your international tech company’s growth. He was invited to talk about “What international investors look for in a Danish start-up?”.

David used the Tropes to explain how to sell your “idea” to each type of investors and he also discussed the importance of focusing on the equity story.

The event included presentations covering national funding, international funding and the services of EKF in order to address international markets. There were also case studies from Eurekos (Learning Management System for corporates), Lendino (crowdfunding for SMEs) and Brain+ (Care fro brain app). The event showed Denmark’s strength in digital health, next gen finance, business software-as-a-service, and industrial applications for IoT.

David said: “It was great to see even the youngest companies thinking about how to interantionalise. We discussed from how to get known to what happens in the investment process, and the advantages/disadvantages of staying in Copenhagen based versus moving to the US.”

Vie Carratt knows the Danish market very well and has worked for six years with Falcon.io which has recently been acquired by Cision. David joined the company as Board Member and we helped the company with several rounds of funding. David also played a key role in the negotiations for the acquisition.
