David Carratt speaks at the Nordic Venture Forum

David Carratt introduced the theme of “Stories from the Real World” which provided entrepreneurs with some models for successful equity financings illustrated with actual cases.

The panel discussion afterwards featured Christian Wylonis from FitBay and Daniel Jacobsen from GreenSteam. Christian raised equity finance from Creandum and Steadfast Venture Capital by demonstrating his passion and commitment to an entirely new approach to finding clothes that fit online. Daniel raised equity finance from Castrol innoVentures; the perfect industrial partner who was already looking for a data-driven approach to fuel saving for ships.

On the second day, David moderated a panel of private investors for a discussion of the returns and risks associated with investing in the Nordic region. The panel liked the highly educated people and interest in innovation found in Denmark and Sweden particularly. Risk factors include the small domestic markets, which make it harder to expand internationally, and labour market inflexibility encountered in some Nordic countries.

“I am very surprised by the level of quality demonstrated by many of the companies presenting here. It is a great networking opportunity for all of them. I think the Nordics is a region with high potential to produce very successful investments.”
